We are counting down to our Summer Hog Roast this Saturday which will be held on The Putting Green at 1pm. It looks as though the fantastic weather that we have all got used to is set to stay!

f you haven’t attended a Summer BBQ or Hog Roast before at Warren Forest then we look forward to seeing you there. Please remember to bring your own chairs, cutlery, drinks etc. Thank you to all of the ladies that have volunteered to help prepare potatoes and salad. Lynn will leave the food in the laundry from 10am if you would like to collect it at your leisure. If you haven’t put your name down and would like to help then please come and see us at Reception.

We are delighted that Appleton’s Butchers of Ripon will be providing our Hog Roast celebration again this year. Appleton’s has a fantastic shop on the market square in Ripon. We love supporting a local family business and Appletons is one steeped in history.

Their story is an interesting one. Appleton’s has been in business since 1867, when nineteen year-old Thomas Appleton started working for Smithson’s butchers in Kirkgate, Ripon. When Mr Smithson died five years later, the business was transferred to Thomas and became T Appleton & Son.

Mr Appleton’s original principle of selecting Yorkshire’s finest meats for the people of Ripon served him well and his butcher’s shop thrived. In 1936 Appleton’s moved into the landmark black-and-white building on the market square it still occupies today. Like the Tudor façade and oak paneling, Appleton’s commitment to quality and good value remains unchanged.
