This week see’s the return of The Great Yorkshire Show held at the Showground in Harrogate. It is an iconic three-day event and one of the biggest agricultural events in the English calendar. Every year, more than 130,000 visitors and over 8,500 animals converge on the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate to compete, socialise and celebrate.

2018 marks the 160th Great Yorkshire Show  and it is set to be spectacular, celebrating the very best of food, farming and rural life while throwing in a few surprises to commemorate this incredible milestone.

We know that many of our Holiday Home Owners plan their stay at their caravan during this week in order to attend. If this is your first year then it is worth mentioning that many of our customers park at Ripley and take the number 36 bus into Harrogate’s bus station. From here there is a regular free bus service to ferry people backwards and forwards throughout the day.

Harrogate is a fabulous town to visit in its own right. Most famous for being an elegant spa town with an array of boutiques, high street shops, excellent cafe’s bars, and tea rooms, most famously of course is Betty’s. Only 10 miles from us here at Warren Forest, Harrogate is the perfect destination for a day out. The flower beds are in full bloom at the moment and the Stray is alive with people making the most of the warm weather.

The Valley Gardens are situated in the regal Low Harrogate and is a 17-acre English Heritage Grade II listed garden. It includes beautiful historic buildings, such as the Sun Pavilion and colonnades, which sit alongside a wide variety of shrub, flower and herbaceous beds.

If you are a keen gardener then Harlow Carr is not to be missed. Free to RHS members, RHS Garden Harlow Carr in Yorkshire covers 27.5 hectares (68 acres). Set in a valley and very much a part of the Yorkshire countryside, the garden has a wide variety of growing landscapes, from running and still water to woodland and wildflower meadows. With a beautiful gift shop and Betty’s Tea Rooms too this is easeily a place to spend the day!
