June marks the beginning of meteorological summer where the day length rapidly increases until we reach the solstice on the 21st of the month.
Nature is parading in full regalia as bees are creating new colonies and adult birds are gathering food for fledglings. June is practically butterfly heaven where up to 54 different species can be spotted. If you spend some time by any of the ponds on the park here at Warren Forest you may be lucky enough to see dragonflies emerging from the nymph phase. As the summer progresses you will undoubtedly witness them skimming the surface of the water.
Strawberries, raspberries, cherries, apricots and gooseberries are at their best this month. These all sound like the perfect accompaniments to afternoon tea while relaxing on your decking and watching the natural world around you to the soundtrack of birdsong. Bliss!
