I love the rolling green fields that surround us here at Warren Forest, and equally, the heather lain moors in walking distance, but I am often drawn to take an excursion to the water. We are lucky to have the river Nidd running close by to ramble along, but nothing blasts the cobwebs like a walk around one of our local reservoirs.
Some are more well known and therefore busier than others, but I have to say my favorite is Grimwith Reservoir. Yes it can be bleak, there is no hiding from the weather as it is so exposed, but it truly is a rewarding loop. Approximately 4.5 miles long, you can walk the full perimeter of this vast body of water.
Only a 30 minutes from us here at the park, and close to some great places to stop for lunch or afternoon tea too! Maybe you could add it to the list of places to visit when we re-open in March!
