What a lovely day was had by all for the Bank Holiday putting competition this weekend! We would like to thank Keith & Joyce for organising the event and supplying all of the food and drink. Warren Forest was very happy to donate all of the prizes and we look forward to delivering the coveted gas bottles!

Players and spectators alike, despite a rainy forecast, were blessed with warm sunshine for practice and tee-off, with 23 competitors taking part in three rounds of putting.

Joyce and Claire prepared a fantastic finger buffet which was very happily enjoyed, while drinks flowed and everyone made the most of the Library, both indoors and out.

And then came the rain! Thankfully, the hardy competitors were well prepared, they donned their wet-weather gear and carried on regardless, with everyone finishing their rounds in wonderfully good spirits.

There were four hole-in-ones during the competition, what a fantastic achievement! Congratulations to Dave Roche, Doug Jackson, Denice Lawton and Malcolm Frethey, who generously donated their winnings to Macmillan Cancer Support. Nearest the Pin winner was Linda Jackson, who took home a Warren Forest cap!

Final Results:

Champion: Allen Metcalf — 66

Runner-up: Doug Jackson — 69

3rd: Pete West — 70

4th: Brian Jobson — 71, after a playoff

5th: Martin Nathan — 71

A huge congratulations to Allen on a very solid winning score, and to all of the worthy winners, and, of course, to every competitor who took part. Most of all, thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success. Good company, good food, a little sunshine, a little rain and plenty of friendly competition…
