June is true Summer! The park and the surrounding countryside is full and fresh, the gardens and hedgerows are bursting with colour! June contains the most daylight and shortest night as we move rapidly towards Midsummer’s Day.
The warmest months of the year are ahead of us, and we’ve had some stunning weather already this season. The Park is looking beautiful at the moment, as one flower fades another blooms! Thank you for the photographs that have been sent in, some are featured below!!
If you are looking for something new to do this weekend then I have a couple of great ideas!
Firstly Niddfest. Niddfest is “A festival of words and nature in Nidderdale” and it is right on our doorstep!! With an array of talks, workshops and outside events for nature lovers, there is sure to be something of interest. Garden design workshops, Birds of Nidderdale talk, and a visit by The Yorkshire Vet are a taste of what’s on offer. To find out the full program take a look at http://www.niddfest.com/
My next recommendation is the 1940s day at The Valley Gardens in Harrogate. This hugely popular event is moving into its 8th year.
There are stalls selling vintage clothes, hats and uniforms. As well as wartime military vehicles there will be representatives from the Royal Air Force and the Army and vintage cars.
The music is sensational too, the Harrogate Band and the Harrogate Harmony Barbershop Chorus will feature as will Maria Manchester and Echo 4 2, all introduced by Major Swing. There will be food trucks, tea, cake stall and tombola, a bar, Pimms tent or bring your own picnic, sit back and enjoy the entertainment. There will also be a thrilling low level flyover at approximately 2.30pm! For full details visit https://harrogateinternationalfestivals.com/1940s-day/
However you choose to spend your time this weekend, we hope it’s a relaxing and enjoyable one!
