Nestled high on the moors of Nidderdale, the ancient shapes of Brimham Rocks rise from the landscape like something from another world. Towering balancing stones, weather carved cliffs and winding pathways invite visitors to slow down, wander and wonder at nature’s creativity.
Formed over 300 million years ago, these remarkable rock formations have been shaped by wind, rain and ice into figures that spark the imagination. Some resemble animals, others castles or giants frozen in time. Every turn reveals another natural sculpture, each carrying its own quiet story.
Warren Forest is a stone’s throw away from this spectacular National Trust site. As a consequenece, we are lucky to have many spectacular rock formations, ravines and outcrops on our land. Many of these are within our woodlands adding an even more enchanting quality to the land.
There is a magic to the rocks that changes with the seasons. In summer, the warm heather and golden light make the moorland glow. Autumn wraps the landscape in rich amber tones, while winter mist drifting through the rocks creates an almost mythical atmosphere. It is a place where we become explorers, photographers chase the perfect light and pause simply to take in the age and history of these magnificent specimens.
To fully enjoy and experience the rocks on our lands, we have created pathways and even a bridge to enable you to really get up close to these spectacular formations.
We hope that you enjoy the gallery of photographs that showcase the unique landscape at Warren Forest. Interspersed with the beautiful rhododendrons as they begin to bloom around the park, the contrast is breathtaking.
