The Bank Holiday weekend is upon us, and in true Yorkshire style the weather may well let us down! Rainy days in Nidderdale are as relaxing, restorative and enjoyable as ever. The birds still sing at the later break of dawn, in fact the feeders are even busier than usual at the moment. The lushness of the lawns are guaranteed with this waterfall and somehow, the colours look a little sharper when they are not in the full glare of the sun. A spot of rain never stops us venturing out on a walk! If you prefer, stick to the woodland walks for shelter.

What I love about a wet weekend at Warren Forest the most, is that it is the perfect excuse to make a brew (Yorkshire tea of course) and curl up with a good book, or complete a jigsaw with the radio humming in the background. Those moments to pause and rest in your comfortable holiday home are without doubt some of the most pleasurable. So I would recommend a trip to Pateley Bridge, stock up on your favourites from the butchers and the bakehouse and hunker down until the sun comes out again…because it will…..it always does!

If you just can’t wait, then here are a few sunny photographs I took on Monday morning.
