We adore living in Nidderdale as much as our customers love owning a holiday home here. So whenever the opportunity arises we relish the chance explore and enjoy the surrounding area. We know that walking is a passion for many of you and to indulge in this we can’t think of a better place to begin a walk than Pateley Bridge!

Nestled in the heart of Nidderdale, in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Pateley Bridge is the perfect place to start your exploration of the Yorkshire Dales, to enjoy the stunning scenery which brings visitors back year after year, no matter what the season. We can guarantee you won’t be short of things to see and do. From Pateley Bridge you can choose to continue on towards some of the magnificent reservoirs that are wildlife havens, venture out onto the moors or simply enjoy the shops, tea shops and riverside walks in the town.

To give you a flavour of some of the magnificent views that can be enjoyed on these walks I have attached some photographs below, there are more on our Facebook page. These were taken on a walk from Bewerly, which is a pretty little village that nestles into Pateley Bridge. The walk takes in the shade and beauty of fish pond Wood along the tiny stream opening to an ornamental lake. From here you make your way into Strikes Wood climbing to Raven’s Gill. It is here that the impressive two towers of Yorke’s Folly await. Amid the heather and bracken is a TV mast, indicating how high up you have walked! From here you see the beginning of Guise Cliff and enjoy the sweeping panoramic views over Nidderdale and beyond to the North York Moors.

You will definitely be in need of refreshment if you have completed this walk and we are spoiled for choice in Pateley Bridge. From quaint tea rooms, local pubs and the “chippy”, there is bound to be something to tempt you. We know that some our customers favorite places to enjoy are The Pancake house, serving sweet and savoury pancakes, delicious waffles and scrumptious ice-creams, Ollys, the Italian restaurant that is always a hit and Wilding Tea Shop is perfect for a cup of Yorkshire tea and a scone!! If you feel like a short drive towards Greenhow, then Toft Gate is very popular for light bites, home baked cakes and pastries and friendly service.

For lots more information about walks in the local area and great recommendations to eat out take a look at the files in the library or come and see us in Reception. We know you will enjoy it as much as we do!
