We may be feeling the departure of summer as the shadows lengthen and the days are a little cooler, but September is a month packed with events in the surrounding area of us here at Warren Forest.

A sight not to be missed in September is the heather in full-bloom on our high moorlands. Managed for grouse shooting over the past couple of hundred years, the heather is carefully burned off in a mosiac to provide both food and ground cover for the birds on the wider moorlands. The closest is Brimham Moor which is within walking distance of the park.

This coming Friday (13th September) see’s the annual even that is the Autumn Harrogate Flower Show returning to the Showground. Featuring fantastic ideas for your garden, stunning plant nursery displays, live expert demonstrations and great shopping, it offers everything you need to plan and perfect your outdoor space.

Saturday 21st September marks Heritage Opening Day. Enjoy free entry to Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal to celebrate Heritage Open Day. Book onto a behind the scenes tour and see items from the archives.

Monday 23rd September is the 2019 Nidderdale Show hosted on the Showground in Pateley Bridge. The Nidderdale Show aims to celebrate the finest of agricultural traditions with top class livestock, horse and dog sections and it boasts one of the finest exhibitions of animals anywhere in the UK. Alongside arts and crafts and locally sourced foods it is our favorite show of the year.

Week commencing the 23rd also marks the start of the UCI World Cycling Championships. There are events and activities and great places to watch the action from all around us here at Warren Forest!
